“I encountered significant challenges in generating additional income beyond my salary, primarily relying on uncertain ventures like commercial farming (Piggery). Despite investing in a plot in 2011 with a loan from Equity bank, I struggled to develop it over eight (8) years while repaying the loan. However, upon joining SteadFin on the recommendation of colleagues and accessing a loan facility, I transformed the plot into 20 self-contained housing units in Lubaga Division. This venture now provides me with a stable source of side income for day-to-day needs and savings.
Drawing from the success of this project, I plan to further expand my rental units to around 50 within the next five years across Lubaga (Lungujja, Lusaze, Lugala, or Masanafu). I strongly encourage fellow members to leverage the support provided by SteadFin SACCO to access substantial loan facilities at low-interest rates. This assistance can make seemingly impossible projects financially viable and support struggling ongoing ventures.
I personally benefited from the Financial Literacy Sessions and motivational talks facilitated by the SACCO. As someone with a medical background, managing finances for development has remained a challenge. Therefore, I urge fellow officers accessing loans from the SACCO to actively participate in these capacity-building activities to maximize the utility of their funds and achieve their financial goals effectively.”
